Pike Place Market has been part of my Seattle story for much longer than I’ve lived in Washington.
Growing up in Michigan, I have fond memories of visiting Seattle to see my cousin, and Pike Place Market was always one of the highlights. There was something magical about watching fish fly through the air, wandering through the market stalls, and trying foods that felt completely different from anything back home.
After moving to Washington four years ago, those occasional childhood visits turned into a tradition. Today, I find myself back at Pike Place several times a year, whether I’m showing visitors around Seattle, searching for a new food vendor, or revisiting a few longtime favorites.
As a foodie and current Yelp Elite member, I’ve spent years exploring Seattle’s restaurant scene, but Pike Place remains one of my favorite places to explore. Part of what makes it special is that no two visits are the same. One trip might be a quick stop for a piroshky and coffee. Another might turn into an afternoon of sampling seafood, discovering a new vendor, and leaving with far more food than planned.
This guide focuses on the Pike Place food spots I genuinely recommend. You’ll find iconic market classics, newer vendors that have quickly become local favorites, and a few underrated finds that are easy to miss if you don’t know where to look. Whether you’re visiting Seattle for the first time or returning for another trip, these are the food stops worth prioritizing.
🍔 Classics Seattle Eats
Dick’s Drive-In
No Seattle food list is complete without this beloved local burger chain. Established in 1954, Dick’s is known for no-frills, affordable burgers, fries, and hand-dipped shakes. Locations in Wallingford, Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, and more beyond the city limits.
Pike Place Chowder
A must-try spot in Pike Place Market. Their New England clam chowder has won multiple national awards. Beat the line by ordering online for takeout. Highly recommend the chowder sampler!
Beecher’s Handmade Cheese
Also in Pike Place, this cheese shop lets you watch the cheese-making process through the front window. Their mac & cheese is rich, creamy, and unforgettable – it’s a local favorite. You can also purchase other food and blocks of cheese here.

🌿 Pike Place Market Bites
Mee Sum Pastry
Grab BBQ pork buns or shumai at this tiny Chinese bakery, perfect for eating on the go.
Hellenika Cultured Creamery
Try slow-fermented gelato made with live cultures. Ube is my favorite!
Piroshky Piroshky
Eastern European hand pies in sweet and savory varieties. Expect a line, but it moves quickly.
Aditi Chai (Thursday – Sunday)
A gem inside the market offering Indian-style chai. Bold, spiced, and totally satisfying.
Storyville Coffee
Tucked upstairs in Pike Place Market, this cozy coffee shop offers warm vibes, excellent espresso, and one of the best cinnamon rolls in the city.
🍽️ Asian-Inspired Must-Eats
Din Tai Fung (University Village, Tukwila, and Bellevue)
World-renowned for Taiwanese xiao long bao (soup dumplings). Try the spicy wontons and cucumber salad. Don’t miss out on the dessert dumplings!
Hokkaido Ramen Santouka
Located in University Village and Bellevue. Rich tonkotsu broth and perfectly tender chashu. So far my favorite ramen in the greater Seattle area.
Kin Len Thai Night Bites (Wallingford)
Street-style Thai with a neon-lit, fun vibe. Order the Hat Yai fried chicken and mango sticky rice.
Asean Streat Food Hall (South Lake Union)
Rotating vendors from across Southeast Asia, including Thai, Filipino, and Vietnamese specialties.
Secret Savory (Downtown)
A hidden Thai gem serving crispy rice salad and pork skewers with big, bold flavor.
Moon Tree Sushi & Tapas (Queen Anne)
Located near Climate Pledge Arena, this sushi spot blends Japanese technique with tapas-style presentation. Don’t miss the crispy rice or bluefin tuna sashimi.
Tamarind Tree (International District)
Elegant Vietnamese with dishes like papaya salad, claypot fish, and pho. A local favorite tucked behind a parking lot.
Hood Famous Cafe + Bar (International District)
Known for ube cheesecake, ube lattes, and other Filipino-American fusion treats.
Tai Tung (International District)
Seattle’s oldest Chinese restaurant and a favorite of Bruce Lee.
🍕 Creative & Comfort Foods
Moto Pizza (West seattle, belltown, edmonds, bellevue, t-Mobile Park)
Infamous for long waitlists and ultra-creative pies. Expect unexpected toppings on an insanely good fermented crust.
Jade Garden (International District)
Popular for classic dim sum—get there early for best selection.
Von’s 1000 Spirits (Downtown, Woodinville)
Sourdough-based everything: pasta, pizza, and house-made vodka infusions. Perfect for comfort with a twist.
Tacos Chukis (Central district, Capitol Hill, SLU, Beacon Hill)
Seattle’s go-to taco chain. The house taco with grilled pineapple is a must.
Taylor Shellfish Farms (Capitol Hill, pioneer square, queen Anne, Bow, Shelton)
Great for oysters on the half shell, Dungeness crab, and other fresh local seafood.
Lola
A Tom Douglas classic, Lola serves up Mediterranean-inspired Pacific Northwest fare. The breakfast is especially popular—don’t miss the made-to-order doughnuts.
Purple Cafe and Wine Bar
This downtown wine-centric spot has an elegant vibe with a central spiral wine tower and an extensive food and wine menu. A great pick for a more upscale lunch or dinner.
The Walrus and the Carpenter (Ballard)
A cozy, oyster-forward spot with a frequently changing small plate menu. Come early or be prepared to wait—this gem is worth it.
🍰 Bakeries, Cafes & Dessert Stops
Bakery Nouveau (Capitol Hill, West Seattle, burien)
Famous for their twice-baked almond croissant. Excellent breads and seasonal pastries, too.
Hood Famous Cafe + Bar (again, because yes it deserves it)
Their sweets are worth a second mention—don’t leave Seattle without trying their ube cheesecake.
Fulcrum Cafe, Milstead, or Elm Coffee Roasters
If you’re skipping Starbucks, these indie roasters are excellent for a specialty cup.
